I am Not Using Meth Because of this Program!
I have a cousin whose friend used Meth. I would like to say thanks for launching this workshop, because without it I too would be doing Meth. You guys came to my school and talked to us about using Meth. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
You Could Not Say it Better
I am so thankful that you are holding these intense yet very real commercials against Meth that are appealing to the youth...and everyone...Not Even Once. You couldn't say it any better. Please keep it up. I hope these anti-Meth commercials never stop running.
Ads are Making a Difference
I just wanted to say your ads are making a difference!! There is a billboard ad right outside a rehab center that I went through and still have a service commitment at twice a week. It's the one with a jail cell on it. It's a great reminder for those that are in that rehab center where they, as well as myself, can be if we decide to pick up again!! I also have seen an ad on T.V. They are very in your face and surreal!! That's what people like me need for a reminder. Thanks!!!!!
Mom - Ads Changed Her Life
My 17 yr old daughter showed me something this past weekend that has changed my life and hopefully will change the lives of others. She showed me your website! She admitted to me that she was thinking about experimenting with mind altering drugs, many of her friends have already done so. Then she discovered your site and it changed her mind and hopefully her life forever! I am a substance abuse counselor in the New York State and was bowled over with your work.
Give Kids the REAL Facts
I live in Texas. I watched all of the ads you have on your site. They are disturbing and nauseating. I want my kids and every other child in my state to see them! It's time to stop being "politically correct" and let the kids know (see) the truth. There have been too many years wasted watching out for hurt feelings and not being straightforward and honest because some might be offended. Oh well! Drugs (Meth) are something the kids think can't hurt them. . . "just once". Facts are facts. They have to live in the real world like the rest of us. We can't clean it up and make it pretty for them and protect them from reality like so many try to do. What we can do, is what you are doing. Inform them. Give them the real facts, be there for them and guide them through. I think what you are doing is great. I'd like to see these ads in each and every state.
Great Program - Hope Michigan Has Similar Plans
I just finished watching, in succession mind you, all of the Meth ads on the website. Wow! These were amazing! I will occasionally see one Meth billboard, or one Meth magazine ad and they are usually pretty tame, but your 30-second videos just blew me away! If Michigan has any plans similar to yours, I think that is a great foothold towards combating this threat. I wish you and your organizations the very best of luck in all your endeavors!
This Program Will Reach Out to Help
I think this site is amazing and that it could really help to show teens and even adults how bad Meth really is. I was a user, and without help I couldn't do it. I think this program will reach out as help for everyone who needs it, especially if they have no one. I was, well I should say, always will be, addicted to Meth. I was an active user for 5 years. I have been 2 1/2 years completely sober. Every time I hear or see an ad by you, no matter how hard I try, I can't help but cry. I NEED to help in any way I can. I have seen such a loss in human life and community. It can be stopped.
I'm Afraid to Walk Down my Street
I just want to thank you guys. I think what you're doing is amazing! It's about time something is done about the Meth problem in this state. It's gotten to the point that I'm afraid to walk down my street by myself because of the Meth problem in my neighborhood. I've seen several of my friends turn to Meth and screw up thier entire life, they ended up losing their jobs and living on the streets. Stealing from family, friends, and complete strangers for drug money. Please let me know anything I can do to help with this awesome project.
Brother Uses - Wants to Help
I have a brother who is addicted to Meth, he told me once that he was not going to be like that guy. Those were his exact words and now HE IS THAT GUY. I want to be involved in this project. I don't want to just be another voice that says something needs to be done. I need to get out there and do something about it.
Recovering - Destroyed Hometown
Hi my name is Joyce and I am a recovering Meth addict. I've been waiting for something like this to come out and speak to all of Arizona for so long. Meth is destroying my hometown along with so many cities thought Arizona. I started using Meth when I was 15 and I used for 7 years... I lost everything. I grew up in Safford Arizona (where I started using) and later moved to Phoenix where I eventually got sober. I've been clean and sober for 4 years now and my life is beautiful. I would love to get involved with the Meth Project. If there is anything I can do... please let me know.
Recovering - Thank you
All I can say to you is thank you... thank you so much... I am 22, 3 years and 7 months sober. I did Meth from the time I was 14 till very shortly before my 19th b-day... it ate part of my soul... if you can stop that for someone else... just thank you.
Recovering - Feeling Effects of Meth Use
I snorted and smoked Meth as a teenager and it affected me in no way I could have imagined. I did not reach my college dreams and I have mental and physical problems now that I am older due to my Meth use. I ended up on the streets and living in a Meth house. By the time I realized I was either going to die there or end up in jail, the damage was already done. Maybe I would have not used it at all had there been a "hardcore" ad campaign like this out there.
Lost Family to Meth
My use of Meth, I thought was never a problem, until I lost my family, my daughter, and ex fiancÚ (who is now in prison for 10 years)... I have had to re-establish relationships and trust with my own family again. Never again would I turn to Meth. I love what you are doing with the Arizona Meth Project, and have been looking for ways to become more involved and make people more aware about his horrible drug.
Recovering - Important Images for Children
I just wanted to tell you that I think these ads are awesome!! I am a recovering Meth addict and I've been sober for 3 years. These ads tell it all and it is very important that our children not only hear the message, but to actually see what this drug can do to you. Thank you for publishing these ads.
Recovering - Strong Message
Wow-very strong message. I have been clean from Meth for 7 years this April. It is a horrible and consuming drug. I think what you are doing is wonderful.
Recovering - Lucky Not to be Dead
I was introduced to speed in 1998, at the time I was 21 years of age. I was in an experimental mode, and I figured trying this drug that I really knew nothing about, wouldn't cause any harm. From 1998 until the summer of 2002 I spiraled out of control. I hated myself for continuing to use especially after the murder of my beloved cousin years before, because of this wretched substance. In mid summer 2002, I had a moment of clarity. I left my dealer's house, drove 25 minutes to my house and slept for the first time in 8 days. I thought I was free, but I was wrong. As it usually goes in these situations, I relapsed. I rediscovered that old feeling of wanting to die again. I've been clean since 2004. Sometimes it's a struggle, but I'm determined to make my existence worthwhile. I commend whoever started this program. I'm one of the lucky ones. Not many of us make it out alive.
Recovering - Decent to Insane
I tried it because of my weakness to a girl I was with when I was 16. The first hit from that pipe hooked me for the next 4 months straight. I went from a decent person to a person that stole from parents, lost 2 jobs, and started stealing cars and property. I went from 140 lbs to 120 in a week, literally. Stayed awake for that whole week and slowly went insane. I only did it for 4 months straight. The psychological and physical effects of that drug still stick with me today. If there is anything I can do to help (I'll plaster stickers all over this city) please let me know, otherwise keep up the fight against this poison that destroys families, lives and cities.
California Needs these Ads
We feel you are doing a GREAT job getting the word out about how BAD meth really is. Our girls had friends come to visit from California. Their friends were amazed at Montana's commercials about METH ADDICTION. They said "California should have commercials like these." God Bless all of you and your staff and help. Keep up the great work!
College Student - Effective Ads
I am a college student of twenty. In the past several days I have really begun to notice anti-Meth ads. What I do know is that people around me my age are taking notice. When I was watching television with friends and one of your commercials came on I commented that I'd really noticed your ads recently. Everyone in the room spoke up and made similar comments. I think that the graphic, jarring images are very effective at not only grabbing the attention of young adults but more importantly spawning anti-Meth conversations. I wish other anti-drug campaigns would take this very blunt but effective approach. I know that for me a celebrity telling me something along the lines of "drugs destroy dreams" has very little impact on me; it very quickly blends in with the thousands of other ads I see and is soon forgotten. Your images (and their anti-Meth messages), however, stay lodged in my mind for quite a while. Thank you.
Mother - Started Conversations With My Kids
I love the fact that you are using cold hard facts about this drug! You are not sugar coating anything-you tell it how it is and use young people. My kids are now scared to death of this drug and we have talked more about drugs in these last few weeks than we ever have. I only have you to thank for that!!!! Again, I can not say enough about how wonderful I think this campaign is. Thank you from one very grateful mother. Keep up the good work please.
Health Teacher - Using Ads in Class
I am a High School Health teacher in Roseville California. I just wanted to say thank you for all the effort you have put into this project. I watched all of the ads and I was quite disturbed by them. That's a good thing, I am not complaining at all. We don't have a big meth problem here but I am also not so naive to think that we don't have a problem. I want to do the best I can at educating kids to the best of my ability to arm them with the strength and knowledge to avoid meth related situations. I will be using your ads in my unit on drugs. Thank you for a very true to life, poignant display of the truth behind this and other drugs.
